We are pleased to announce that, with the removal of the social distancing
requirements, that Elgin Model Railway Club can recommence operations in
almost normal conditions.   Members and guests will still be required to
sign in and out for track and trace needs and, of course, are asked to be
considerate of the sensitivities of others within the club premises
particularly when there are a number present.   When possible we will
continue to open the double doors for ventilation and sanitiser will
continue to be available.

Anyone who is interested in finding out more about the club and possible
membership should contact the Secretary at

Elgin Model Railway Club was formed in 1987 and is a member of the AMRSS Ltd (formerly the Association of Model Railway Societies in Scotland).

Our stated aim is to bring together people who are interested in model railways for the purpose of furthering their knowledge of the hobby and to build and operate a Club layout or layouts for mutual enjoyment and exhibition.

Our members model in a variety of scales and gauges, ranging from TT, through N, OO, and O gauge. The knowledge and experience within our relatively small group is immense and they are always willing to share information and assist fellow members.

The procedure for joining us at Elgin Model Railway Club is simple. You must be over 12 to join the juniors, and 16+ to join the seniors.   In the first instance contact the club’s Secretary or alternatively, complete the online application form on our web site.

Casual visitors are welcome by prior arrangement.

All members can have their own keys if they wish and are free to use clubhouse facilities at any time although the usual club night is Thursday.

Once a month club business is dealt with at a General Member’s business meeting, otherwise the rest of the evenings are down to those present. Some like to add to one of the club layouts while others just go to gossip, or best of all, to play trains.

The club is funded by membership fees, sponsorship and our local Modelfair which is organized by our club and features exhibits from most modelling societies in this area.

Our Modelfair is held every year usually in November at Elgin Town Hall and our website features further information and photographs taken during recent shows. We believe that the Modelfair is The Premier Model Exhibition in the North of Scotland.
