Elgin Model Railway Club was formed in 1987 and is a member of the Association of Model Railway Societies in Scotland (AMRSS).
Our stated aim is to bring together people who are interested in model railways for the purpose of furthering their knowledge of the hobby and to build and operate a Club layout or layouts for mutual enjoyment and exhibition.
Our members model in a variety of scales and gauges, ranging from TT, through N, 00 and 0 gauge. The knowledge and experience within our relatively small group is immense and they are always willing to share information and assist fellow members.
The procedure for joining us at Elgin Model Railway Club is simple. You must be over 16 (see development below) and in the first instance contact the club’s Secretary or alternatively, complete the online application form on our web site. You will then be invited to attend a few club nights and if you think the club is for you, then your application will be presented at the next Member’s monthly meeting.
Casual visitors are welcome by prior arrangement.
All members can have their own keys if they wish and are free to use clubhouse facilities at any time although the usual club night is Thursday.
A second club night has been added at the request of members, so every Tuesday members may come along for training and instruction in modelling techniques.
Once a month club business is dealt with at a General Member’s business meeting, otherwise the rest of the evenings are down to those present. Some like to add to one of the club layouts while others just go to gossip, or best of all, to run trains.
Our Modelfair is held every year usually in November at Elgin Town Hall and our website features further information and photographs taken during recent shows. We believe that the Modelfair is The Premier Model Exhibition in the North of Scotland.
